Program Description
This program provides the knowledge and skills needed to enter the fields of public, private sector, corporate and governmental accounting, or to pursue advanced degrees in accounting, business or law. For public accounting, you must pass the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, which in Florida requires 30 credit hours beyond degree. Graduates are able to prepare and interpret financial statements for business, non-profit, and government enterprises; use accounting data to evaluate performance and enable decision making; apply principles related to the design, integrity, and effectiveness of accounting information systems; understand the role of auditing in society, including procedures and reporting requirements; and analyze legal, ethical and legislative constructs which govern the conduct of business.
Admission Requirements
• Students entering FIU as freshman or as a transfer student with less than 30 credits will need to meet the general admission criteria. Click here for the details http://admissions.fiu.edu/apply/freshman/
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 for all lower division courses and upper division non-business courses (including transfer coursework)
• For continuing FIU and transfer students the GPA earned for ALL business pre-core courses must be 2.5

MAC 2233 Calculus for Business
• Completion of either (a) all UCC requirements and 60 lower division credits, or (b) an Associate of Arts (AA) from a Florida accredited institution.
• All transfer students must also complete the Math Placement Assessment for Incoming Students. The results from that assessment are utilized to guide students for placement in appropriate mathematics courses.
• For transfer students who have not successfully completed college-level mathematics courses, results determine appropriate mathematics enrollment. Students transferring in college-level mathematics courses should use their results to assess (a) readiness for remaining mathematics courses and (b) readiness for upper-division Business Core Courses in finance and quantitative methods.
