The accelerated Master of Architecture program provides a seamless course of study that begins freshman year with pre-graduate studies, commences graduate studies in the third year, and leads to the conferral of the Professional Master of Architecture degree (M.Arch). The program is centered on an exciting sequence of design studios that leads the student from the basics of design through advanced architectural projects that explore structure, materials, building systems, site conditions, history/theory, digital design, and cultural context. Students are encouraged to study abroad in our Genoa center, take classes at our Miami Beach Urban Studio, and explore related fields in the College. Architects enjoy work in the private and public sectors and contribute in numerous ways to our built environment.

The Bachelor of Arts in Art program is designed for students who do not wish to become professional artists, but who ultimately desire to teach at a primary or secondary level, or those students wishing to enter the art market in other capacities, such as working at galleries or museums. The BA in Art would also be the primary degree for those wishing to pursue a Masters of Art in Art Education, Museum Studies, or Arts Administration.

The BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art) degree is our "professional level" program for those planning a career as an artist and those likely to seek admission to a Master of Fine Arts graduate program. Especially through the Thesis I & II courses, BFA majors are expected to reach a very high level of achievement in the skill and conceptual clarity of their work. Studio Areas: Ceramics, Drawing, Electronic Art & Digital Media, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, and Time-Based Media.

The program emphasizes the blending of research and theory with practical applied experience, and considers the urban, multicultural nature of the University community, as well as more general national trends within the discipline. The program involves extensive fieldwork with supervision and seminars. All students are encouraged to pursue specialized interests and needs. State of Florida certification requirements are met through coursework, field experiences, and student teaching.

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts is for those interested in pursuing careers as directors of communication in business, government, non-profit organizations or the arts. Students enrolled in our courses can expect to develop communication skills essential for leadership, corporate communication and crisis management. Students will learn how to advocate and critically debate ideas in social and political settings, to appreciate diverse communication styles, to work productively in task oriented groups, and to engage in rewarding interpersonal relationships.

The SJMC Advertising program is designed to provide students with the fundamental elements of strategic communications, in addition to preparing them for a career in two specific advertising tracks: Account Management and Creative Advertising. Our Advertising discipline has evolved with the changes in media, and students receive extensive training in the strategic use of digital communications and social media. SJMC Advertising graduates have won a number of international awards and landed positions at major multinationals and top global agencies, as well as local ad agencies based in South Florida.

The SJMC Broadcast Media program is designed to provide students with the fundamental elements of strategic communications, in addition to preparing them for a career in two specific advertising tracks: Account Management and Creative Advertising.
