Program Description

The BFA in acting is a very intense, full-time, demanding program which is designed to prepare student actors for a professional career or for further professional training. Students receive four years of performance training, along with taking a full complement of academic and technical theatre courses. They are afforded opportunities to perform in three different theatre spaces and to work with a variety of highly trained and qualified directors and designers. Students also receive instruction and practice in audition techniques and career preparation. The FIU Theatre Department is a member of KCACTF (the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Admission is by audition and interview only. Admission Requirements

1. Students entering FIU as Freshmen

You are considered a freshman when you have earned less than 13 college credits since your high school graduation. Credits earned in Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate programs do not affect your freshman status.

All Theatre majors are Selective Admissions programs.
