Program Description

Recreational Therapy (RT) services contribute to the broad spectrum of health care through treatment, education, and the provision of adapted recreational opportunities--all of which are instrumental to improving and maintaining physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, preventing secondary health conditions, enhancing independent living skills and overall quality of life. A student may elect to gain competencies in the subplan area of Recreational Therapy.

Admission Requirements

1. Students entering FIU as Freshmen or as a Transfer student with less than 60 transfer credits

Admissions criteria are the same as the general FIU criteria for students entering with fewer than 60 approved credits. Click here for the details.

o A minimum lower-division GPA of 2.00 or better on a 4.0 scale.

2. Transfer students entering FIU with 60 or more transfer credits

Admissions criteria are the same as the general FIU criteria for students entering with 60 or more approved credits. Click here for the details.

o A minimum lower-division GPA of 2.30 or better on a 4.0 scale.
