Landscape Architecture Accelerated Masters Program

The fully accredited Master of Landscape Architecture program prepares students for a professional degree in one of the more exciting fields of the 21st century. Landscape architects are engaged in the meaningful and sustainable transformation of our built and natural environment. Our program focuses on design and draws from both art, science and technology via a rich design studio sequence that begins with a two year interdisciplinary foundation that is followed by three years of graduate studies. Students explore environmental, ecological and urban issues, and propose innovative solutions in the design of public spaces, infrastructure, urban planning, industrial reclamation, ecotourism, environmental mitigation and many other areas at the center of the relationship between human beings and their surroundings.

Theatre

The BA Theatre program offers a broad based immersion into the study and practice of theatre. In addition to a core of required theatre courses, taught by experienced, highly qualified faculty, BA students are able to focus on one area of theatre through a choice of several elective classes. Students may audition for roles in Department productions, receive training and hands on experience in stage management, dramaturgy, directing, theatre education and playwriting. The FIU Theatre Department is a member of KCACTF (the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The BFA in Theatre Design is a very intense, full-time, demanding program offering specializations in scenic design, lighting design and costume design. Students work with award winning faculty designers in small group classes and one-on-one projects. The program includes Main Stage and Studio Theatre design opportunities, off-campus internships and a final senior project as well as workshops in resume and portfolio preparation. The Department of Theatre is a member of KCACTF (the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The BFA in acting is a very intense, full-time, demanding program which is designed to prepare student actors for a professional career or for further professional training. Students receive four years of performance training, along with taking a full complement of academic and technical theatre courses. They are afforded opportunities to perform in three different theatre spaces and to work with a variety of highly trained and qualified directors and designers. Students also receive instruction and practice in audition techniques and career preparation.
